After losing my job in April, I've settled into being at home... and boy you wouldn't believe the amount of organizing and reorganizing I can do! This house is spotless! It's almost gross! haha It's greatly played into my favor though...
Coen's 5!!! YES FIVE!!!!! it's pure insanity! for his bday, Bryce and I decided that he needed his room decorated. So we went with a Pirate theme! first off I think he has the ONLY pirate room in the country (not including Pirates of the Caribbean themes... we avoided that as much as we could!) because it was nearly impossible to find pirate decor! but after a few projects that I made, an exhausting sanding and staining of his dresser, a fantastic painting idea, a few leaves and a few parrots, his room rocks!
His favorite present has to be the Lego's! and WOW he got lots! He even got the old ones from when Jason and I were kids! And he had a pirate themed party! All his friends came! Two from school, London (his future wife and our neighbor til she moved!), Brayden, and his BESTEST friend Ethan! We were so happy that so many kiddo's came!
Ethan was eating cupcakes in one bite! Who has time to slow down and take bites when there are kids to play with!! (those eyes and smile are gonna make the girls go insane! Mark and Mel are gonna have a handful of a teenager!)
As I said before... Coen's future wife, London, moved away... it was a rather sad day! They came up with a plan that she'll come visit every 10 days... I don't think this will happen though as her family moved to Washington! Glad we snapped some pics of them together before they moved though! She was adorable and they were the best neighbors!
Living room is making progress!! I'm still looking for the perfect decor though! It's hard when you're broke, not crafty at all, and picky as hell! haha the paint was my Mother's Day present from Bryce!! I was so excited! we even splurged and got the odor reducing paint! yes we fell victim to a good idea with a flashy commercial! but so far I love it!
We had a super fun trip to the Zoo! So glad that we got to go! Coen, Bryce and I had a blast! Got to see the bird show, and the exhibit this year is "Nightmares in Nature." there were vultures, bats, leaches (yuck!), spiders, mosquitoes, and even piranha!
MY BABY BROTHER GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL!!! Now that makes me feel old! Jacob graduated with the 2010 class from Taylorsville High School! Going to his graduation made me grateful for going to a small school!!! IT WAS SO FREAKING LONG!
Look at how wonderful my mom looks! no one can explain the feeling it is to still have her here with us!
Ok now for a super sad update... It's too important for me to not post it though... On July 6th, my dear cousin Kathryn died in the Grand Canyon... It was so incredibly sad to get the news. She died doing two of the things she did best though, helping another person and going on an adventure in the canyon she grew up with... Going to her funeral was so emotional. WOW that girl really LIVED though! She has been to tons of other countries and on tons of adventures... She attended BYU and Dixie State AND BYU Hawaii. Plus (and this one is incredible!) she went on a 1 month 1000 mile SOLO trek across Vietnam! She did this trek on bike, motorcycle, motor boat and train... all while not knowing a single word of the language and not knowing a single person or having a single connection to a family there! INCREDIBLE! Also I never realized just how INCREDIBLY inaccurate the news can be... Her story was all over the news and none of the stories got it right! It was really hard to see her on the news and online and have the story have such incorrect and exaggerated "facts".
Just to end on a good note... I also chopped off my hair and dyed it back to burgundy red... LOVE IT!! so many people told me NOT to cut it off but wow I like this length so much better! I'd even prefer it a bit shorter! (just above my shoulders would be perfect!!)
